The patent pending SoliValve® technology introduced by Visval allows for the first time the fully automated and contained handling of bulk powders with common packagings and receptacles.
Present Situation
The transportation and handling of powders is one of the main activities in the manufacturing and processing of food, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, plastics and metal powders as well as in many other industries. A variety of different packagings and receptacles are used to transport and handle the raw, intermediate and finished materials, especially FIBCs, RIBCs, Drums, Octabins, Sacs etc.
All these transport and handling receptacles cannot be handled automatically and under containment without expensive and complicated auxiliary installations. For economical, hygiene and safety reasons, there is an important need in all the concerned industries for a contained handling and transfer system, compatible with these receptacles.
Innovation
The new and patent pending SoliValve®, SoliBag®, SoliCon® and SoliDrum® technology allows for the first time the automatic and contained handling of all common bulk packagings and receptacles via an universal active docking unit.
The SoliValve® technology is based on a low cost passive closure valve that is fitted to the different packagings, enabling them to be connected to an active docking unit. Once the dust tight connection between both components has been established, the active unit opens the passive closure valve to allow the contained and dosed transfer of the material from the packaging. After partial or total discharge of the content, the active unit recloses the passive valve tightly and the receptacle can be disconnected without any dust emission.
Profitability and Sustainability
For the first time, common bulk packagings and receptacles can now be fully integrated into automatic and contained production processes, enabling considerable savings in building investments, process equipment, packaging material and standardisation.
Especially room height, transport and handling equipments, dedusting and washing systems etc. can be considerably reduced and simplified. On the operational and environmental side, the use of the SoliValve® technology guarantees lower OEL levels and eliminates cross-contamination. Last but not least, packaging costs can be cut down thanks to reuse of the passive closure valves and the selective recycling and disposal of the packaging components.
The SoliValve® technology is already supported by major systems integrators and is distributed by leading packaging manufacturers, ensuring global availability and support.
